Hail damage roof inspection in Denver
Find out whether your Denver roof has real hail damage before you call your insurance company. The inspection is free, you get the photos, and we tell you plainly whether a claim makes sense. We are about 8 miles away in Wheat Ridge.
What we check on Denver roofs
Denver's roofs vary more than any other city we work in. On the Victorians and Denver Squares in Capitol Hill, Highland, Baker and Washington Park, we inspect steep slopes safely, check built-in gutters and the flashing around brick chimneys, and note anything that might need Landmark Preservation review if the roof is replaced. Post-war ranches in Harvey Park and Virginia Village are simpler roofs where hail shows clearly. In Central Park and Green Valley Ranch, newer HOA homes were in the path of the May 30, 2024 storm, and we often find damage there that was never claimed.
Recent hail near Denver
Denver's roofs take a steady beating. Storm reports show about 349 hail reports within 10 miles of downtown since 2004. The July 11, 1990 storm brought softball-sized hail and about $625 million in damage. On May 30, 2024, a storm that crossed the northern and eastern metro dropped large hail in Green Valley Ranch and other parts of the city, adding to a regional loss estimate near $2 billion. In June 2026, 1.75-inch hail was reported in Denver and Glendale.
Hail counts and dates are from National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center reports compiled by StormerSite. Check your own address for hail.
How a free hail inspection works
- Ground check. We start with the soft metals: gutters, downspouts, vents, window wraps and the AC unit. Dents there show how big the hail was and which direction it came from.
- On the roof. We walk every slope we can safely walk and mark test areas, counting hits on the shingles and checking for cracked mats, missing granules and broken seals. We also check the flashing, pipe jacks and ridge.
- Attic, if needed. On older homes or when there's a leak, we check the decking and look for water stains from below.
- Photo report. You get the photos and a plain-language summary: no damage, minor repair, or damage that's likely worth a claim.
- You decide. Filing a claim is up to you. If you file and hire us, we meet your adjuster on the roof and show the damage. You stay in charge of your claim.
Hail damage or normal wear?
Hail leaves round, random hits: dark spots where granules were knocked off, soft bruises you can feel, and cracks in the shingle mat. Normal aging looks different: even granule loss across the whole roof, curling edges, and cracking along the sun-facing slopes. Insurance generally covers storm damage, not wear, so telling the two apart is the main point of the inspection. Read more in our after-the-storm checklist.
