Hail damage roof inspection in Wheat Ridge

Find out whether your Wheat Ridge roof has real hail damage before you call your insurance company. The inspection is free, you get the photos, and we tell you plainly whether a claim makes sense. Our office is here in Wheat Ridge.

What we check on Wheat Ridge roofs

Our office is in Wheat Ridge, so after a storm we are usually on your roof the same or next day. Much of the city is 1950s and 1960s brick ranches and split-levels, and those roofs have their own weak spots: low-slope additions and carports where hail tears the surface, older roofs with two or three layers that hide damage underneath, and chimney flashing that has been sealed over more than once. On the newer infill homes and townhomes near 38th Avenue, Kipling and Wadsworth, steeper pitches mean we check each slope separately, because hail rarely hits every side of a roof the same.

Recent hail near Wheat Ridge

Wheat Ridge sits in the middle of the west-metro hail corridor. The May 8, 2017 storm that dropped baseball-sized hail across the west metro caused about $2.3 billion in insured damage, one of the costliest disasters in Colorado history, and it hit this area hard. More recently, storm reports in June 2026 logged 1.5-inch hail near Arvada, 1.25-inch hail in Applewood, and 1.75-inch hail just north of Golden. All of that falls within a few miles of Wheat Ridge homes.

Hail counts and dates are from National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center reports compiled by StormerSite. Check your own address for hail.

How a free hail inspection works

  1. Ground check. We start with the soft metals: gutters, downspouts, vents, window wraps and the AC unit. Dents there show how big the hail was and which direction it came from.
  2. On the roof. We walk every slope we can safely walk and mark test areas, counting hits on the shingles and checking for cracked mats, missing granules and broken seals. We also check the flashing, pipe jacks and ridge.
  3. Attic, if needed. On older homes or when there's a leak, we check the decking and look for water stains from below.
  4. Photo report. You get the photos and a plain-language summary: no damage, minor repair, or damage that's likely worth a claim.
  5. You decide. Filing a claim is up to you. If you file and hire us, we meet your adjuster on the roof and show the damage. You stay in charge of your claim.

Hail damage or normal wear?

Hail leaves round, random hits: dark spots where granules were knocked off, soft bruises you can feel, and cracks in the shingle mat. Normal aging looks different: even granule loss across the whole roof, curling edges, and cracking along the sun-facing slopes. Insurance generally covers storm damage, not wear, so telling the two apart is the main point of the inspection. Read more in our after-the-storm checklist.

Wheat Ridge hail inspection questions

How fast can you inspect a Wheat Ridge roof after hail?

Usually the same or next day. If water is coming in, we tarp it first and come back for the full inspection.

My Wheat Ridge home has more than one layer of shingles. Can you still see hail damage?

We inspect the top layer like any roof. Extra layers can hide soft spots in the decking, so we also check the attic. If the roof is replaced, every layer comes off down to the wood.
